Oh how I miss his music

Oh man I have been thinking about and listening to a lot of Prince music lately. I don’t know if its because his 1 year anniversary of his death is fast approaching or what. I have just been listening to his music over and over again. I wish I had his musical talents and I could go to Guitar Center, recording king guitars and just pick up the guitar and jam like he did. I wish we could all still have him back and be able to listen to his wonderful music.

I am just hoping that someday they release the music that was in his vault and we are able to enjoy his beautiful music once again. I don’t think the world knows all his beautiful music. I think they just know the popular songs played by the radio. There is so many more songs that he wrote that were just as amazing. Oh I think I need to go listen to more of his songs and just relax as writing this is making me sad again.

What are the steps you use when looking for a media group?

When you are a blogger sometimes you struggle to find the right platform. If you are an advertiser you also search for the right platform to display your content. How do you know which platform will work for you? I tend to read up on companies as much as I can and check out reviews. I want my voice heard and that is why I make sure to have my little place where I can go and voice out my opinions.

I like Triangle Direct Media because it always me to have that platform that I have searched for and needed. It is not easy finding the right group to work with but I am lucky to have found a great group. What are your main concerns when you are looking for a media group ?

But mom I really need this…

When you are a parent to children who are into music, you often find yourself looking at different items your children suggest or say they need. I have often asked my children “do you really need it or do you want it” the answer is almost always “no..but I really want it” this mom has been told look mom wwbw.com has fender super champ x2 on sale and I really really like it. Like all parents I wish I could get my children everything they wanted but it is just not possible.

I often make a list of the items they have asked for and if they keep on asking for the same thing, then I will consider getting it. If they forget all about it and move on to the next thing, they didn’t really want it or needed it. When it comes to musical instruments or items though I tend to be more lenient because I do want them to express themselves as much as they can musically. I love encouraging them and helping them reach their highest potential. I think every parent should do that.

If only I had enough space

My biggest worry and it might be silly, but I seriously worry about space. I always feel like I don’t have enough space to put things away. I have tons of arts and crafts stuff and not enough space for it. I have tons of pots and pans and kitchenware and I always feel like I don’t have enough room for it. I love watching the home makeover shows because they always make the homeowners more cabinets or they make their small house seem bigger.

I would be so happy to buy some of those drawer slide at ovis and have them installed in my den and in my kitchen so my kitchen and den wouldn’t look so cluttered. I get so frustrated sometimes but I refuse to let go of my crafting items. Funny that I would choose to let go of my pots and pans before I let go of any of my scrapbooking and planner stuff. I really need to organize it better though. I am sure it wouldn’t drive me crazy if I had lots of storage space for them instead of in piles and plastic bins in the den room.

8 Restful Seats for the Weary

Picture the scene. A traffic jam in the city. Trains delayed again. Your commute to work took hours. You’ve had a bad day in the office. And now you’re home. At last.

When we’re tired, a place to rest is like an oasis in the desert. Designers and manufacturers have answered our weary prayers with a range of seating options to try.

Futon

This tidy space-saver is a handy household favourite. Japanese in origin, the ‘mattress’ is compressed into a concertinaed formation that unfurls easily into a bed. Commonly constructed from wooden slats, the base provides a sturdy foundation for sitting and lying down.

Chaise Longue

Sophisticated, chic and elegant. Its serpentine backrest is feminine. Its design is simply sublime! A chaise longue has an almost regal quality. Upholstered in rich fabrics, it is a royal centrepiece in any discerning boudoir or sitting room. Its name suggests its purpose is to lounge at leisure. And its firm structure allows a lady to recline languidly without compromising her poise or posture.

Rocking Chair

Rocking chairs are, by design, relaxing. They are equally at home in bedrooms, sitting rooms, and porches. Whether rocking an infant in your arms or working on a sewing project, rocking chairs are an adult’s version of a child’s rocking horse. Without the mane!

Stool

Stools come in all manner of guises. And are used in a variety of different ways. They are associated with work and leisure. The three-legged milking stool. The tall bar stool. The concerto’s piano stool. Or the lady’s footstool. A stool’s function and design are many and varied. The absence of a backrest or armrest categorise the humble stool as a place to perch rather than recline.

Bed

The bed often functions as a seat during the daytime. We use it to read, text a friend, or do some knitting. Indeed, it is the perfect recliner when tired but not ready for sleep. So whether night air beds are your ideal or a gently rocking waterbed, it’s a thumbs-up for relaxation.

Beanbag

The ultimate slouching seat! It’s ingenious in its simplicity. Can an oversized bag filled with nothing but lightweight beans work as a concept? Yes, it can! Perfect for gaming, watching TV or reclining with a paperback, the beanbag is here to stay. Brightly coloured designs are fun and casual seating additions to a child’s bedroom. (And an adult’s!)

Deckchair

Synonymous with the seaside, the humble wooden deckchair has earned its place in history. As a construct, its design is simply a wooden frame supporting a taut fabric layer. It has the bonus of folding up neatly when not in use. The traditional striped fabric adds a splash of colour to beaches and gardens when the sun shines.

Bench

Wooden and wrought iron benches are a common site around the world. They are associated with outside spaces like parks, gardens and sidewalks. They are the weary traveller’s place of rest. Hardwearing and weatherproof, a bench is a friendly seat for people (and pigeons) the world over.

Put your feet up with your chair of choice and relax at leisure.

How I Treat Illnesses Without Breaking The Bank

In my house, everyone gets sick from the adults to the children. It is like a vicious cycle because when one us gets ill, the other tends to follow. I hate feeling crappy, but it breaks my heart to see the kids feel so down. They normally bounce around the house without a care in the world. So, you know they are not feeling well when they don’t have their same enthusiasm. Over the years, I have come to find out that health care costs are not cheap. And, due to my thriftiness, I have come up with a few ways of paying for healthcare without breaking the bank. For all you parents out there, some of the tips below are a lifesaver!

Listen To The Good Doctor

Well, listen to the doctor as long as they are properly accredited. The last thing you want to do is take medical advice from Doctor Who! All joking aside, it shocked me to learn that twenty percent of patients didn’t fill out a prescription when they went to see the doctor. From my point of view, the doctor is the only person worth listening to when the kids or I feel sick. Plus, what’s the point in going to the doctor in the first place?

Try And Get A Discount

However, it is worth noting that some people cannot afford the prescription, which is a serious matter. I know that it sounds a bit cringe, but you can always ask for a discount. Doctors tend to take matters like this seriously, so they will help you find a way. At the end of the day your health is their primary concern, not their bank balance.

Also, some prescriptions offer discount cards or coupons, like Xarelto. If you are suffering from deep vein thrombosis or a pulmonary embolism, this drug is essential as it thins the blood. Consequently, it stops it from clotting and relieves the pressure. By applying for a Xarelto coupon, you can get up to seventy-five percent off your prescription in some cases.

Head To The Supermarket

Asking for help is not easy, and I totally understand if you cannot bring yourself to ask. Pride does work in mysterious ways. Still, there are other alternatives. Supermarkets are a great source of prescription drugs because they can sell them over the counter. Even better, supermarkets can subsidise the costs against the entirety of their stock, which lowers the price. Even if you can afford the prescription at the doctors, you might want to check the supermarket shelves first.

Read Your Bills

According to the MBAA, almost eighty percent of medical bills contain errors. Obviously, you are not to know if you don’t check your bills thoroughly. Never be too trusting with regards to money because even the experts get it wrong on occasion. If there is a discrepancy, you want to solve the problem as soon as possible. Even the smallest charge can add up, especially if it is over a long period.

Hopefully, all my readers will find these as cheap as they are effective!

My Handy Tips For Picking The Perfect Household Appliances

I don’t think I am wrong in saying that most homeowners rely on electrical goods to make looking after the house easier. In fact, if you are anything like me, you probably rely on them too much! But, how can you not when they do such a great job? The perfect appliance will save you time and a lot of money and transform the house into the perfect home. Seriously, I think they are that important.

Consequently, that makes choosing the correct home appliances much more important. If the standard is not right, you won’t reap any of the benefits. Here are a few of my handy tips for choosing correctly.

Reputation

Over the years, I have come to realise that you cannot trust the word of the manufacturer or the supplier. Naively, I assumed that they couldn’t lie to you because it is against the law. However, what they can do is bend, and they do it so effectively. As a result, I don’t care what they say anymore because I am more concerned with the customer’s opinion. Now, I ask friends or family about a certain product and the quality. Also, I go online and check forums to give myself a wider base of opinions that allows me to make an informed decision.

Certification

Some products will come with certain awards and certificates that are very important. For example, if you are buying a boiler you should check whether it is on the Gas Safe Register. The GSR is a tool that the government uses that allows you to tell whether the boiler is up to a specific standard. Quite simply, the Gas Safe Register is a government scheme, so you know that a company who is registered is not going to rip you off.

Awards

Companies and watchdogs like Which? hand out awards for the best appliances on the market. A Haier refrigerator award, then, tells you that Which? believes Haier is a quality product. Of course, companies like Which? are not the be all and end all when it comes to quality. But, they do have a great reputation, and they do put the needs of the consumers first. Not too many other companies can claim that title, which is why lots of customers take their word seriously.

Durability

Electrical appliances have a short lifespan, which is not a good thing. Because they are also expensive, it means it will cost you a fortune to replace every appliance that breaks. Put it this way – I don’t think I have the money! Luckily, there is another option. I like to buy products that I know are very durable, even if the initial cost is higher. In the long-term, that durability will save you thousands of pounds. Plus, you never want to get rid of an appliance that is quality and cost effective.

Eco-Friendly

Environmentally-friendly products don’t just save the Earth; they save your bank balance too! The less energy that an appliance uses, the less it will cost in energy consumption. When appliances like fridges run all day, that can soon make a big difference.

I think I will be sending my boys with their own lunch boxes

My goodness the school lunches have changed from when I went to school. I went to pick my twin boys from school the other day and it just so happened to be lunch time so I waited for my boys to eat their lunch before I took them out of school for their doctors appointment and I was shocked to see them drink their milk out of a plastic bag!! What happened to the little milk cartons we used to get. I was also shocked to see that they had a plastic basket with packages of apple slices instead of the whole apples we used to get. The meat did not look appetizing at all and now I understand why my child kept telling me about the lunch bag here which is on a website he saw. Now I must admit that the lunch bags are cute and I know he will eat all the food I pack him because the times I have given both the boys a packed lunch they finish everything.

I am going to consider just sending them with their own lunch because after seeing what I saw at the school cafeteria I do not blame them at all for not wanting to eat all that food. I am a grown up and I wouldn’t want to eat that food either!!

A Guide to Making Your Home as Comfortable as Possible

There’s nothing better than finishing a hard day’s work and heading back to your comfortable home. Imagine kicking off your shoes, settling down on your cosy sofa and relaxing as you feel pure bliss. This guide will help you to make your home as comfortable as possible in multiple ways so you can do just that!

Make Sure it’s Practical

For your home to be comfortable, you need to find it practical to live in. All homes should suit the people that live in them. Make sure you’ve considered what you like to do in the home, and then design your home this way. If you love to cook, make sure you have lots of space to chop food and get creative. If you love to have friends round, create a social seating area. The more practical your home, the more comfortable it will be for you!

Clear Pathways

Something I cannot stand in any given home is obstructed pathways. Sometimes this can be fixed in seconds with a quick tidy, but sometimes you need to rearrange the furniture. If you’re always hurting yourself, stubbing your toe and having to think of strategic ways to get around, you need to re-think your layout. There are apps online that can help you!

Include Cosy Textures

Cosy textures will not only make your home feel more comfortable, but they’ll also add depth and interest to your decor. Any good interior designer will tell you that this is essential!

Choose Colours Carefully

The colours you choose can have a direct impact on your mood, so check out the psychology of them before you make the final decision! For example, red can be seen as quite energetic and you might find it difficult to relax. Pick a colour you know will help you to feel settled.

Make Repairs if Needed

Is there a niggling repair on your mind? Make repairs ASAP, or you could end up spending more money in the longrun. I know I can’t settle when I know something needs fixing in my home, whether it’s my HVAC or a crack in the wall. Get it out the way and you’ll feel much better!

Install New Appliances

Install new appliances. Why? They’ll make your life so much easier, and thus, more comfortable. They have other benefits too, like being more energy efficient, kind to wallets, and aesthetics. They’ll save you money in the long run, so it’s worth splashing out now!

Soft Lighting

Soft lighting is the most relaxing kind of lighting. You will need task lighting too, so it’s a good idea to have dimmers installed. You can even use things like candles and fairy lights to create an ambiance.

Extra Blankets/Cushions

You can never have too many blankets/cushions, so make sure you have some on hand! I like to dot them around on sofas and beds for a little extra comfort when I need it most.

Which of these tips will you use to make your home more comfortable? Let me know!

My Recommendations for Supporting Older Family Members

Family is extremely important to me, as I’m sure it is to many of you too. I try to do my best to care for my family in different ways, whether they’re blood relations or family I’ve chosen for myself. The problem with loving people so much is that you can worry about them a lot too! One of the things I worry about is my older relatives, who are currently still full of life. However, I know that could change at any time and they might need some more help. Even when they’re able to live independently, I think we can forget that our parents and other older relatives need support. Just because we have our own lives, it doesn’t mean they don’t want to hear from us! So here are a few ways I think you can help your older relatives.

Talk to Them

For me, one of the most important things to do with elderly relatives if just to keep in touch with them. A lot of older people become isolated in their old age, due to a number of reasons. Some of them find it difficult to leave the house, while others just struggle to make friends. Having family to talk to is one of the ways that they can be more social. It doesn’t matter if you can’t talk to them in person. You can call them regularly, and don’t forget that plenty of older people are tech-savvy now! They can use email or video calls just as well as you can.

Encourage Them to Be Social

You can’t always be there for your relatives. Sometimes you’re too busy with your own life to socialize, or you live too far away. And it’s not healthy for you to be their only point of contact anyway. So it’s important to try and encourage them to be social in other ways. The internet makes it much easier to find groups they can attend to indulge in their hobbies. You can also find centers for elderly people to socialize with each other. If it’s hard for them to leave the house, they can find anyone from neighbors to volunteers who will come and talk to them for a while.

Arrange for Appropriate Care

Although everyone wants to be independent for as long as possible, a lot of people need extra help. If you have elderly parents who need care, your first thought might be to do it yourself. While it’s a caring thought, it’s not possible for everyone or always in the best interest. There are other ways that people can receive the care they need. Hiring home carers is one option, but there are also live-in facilities. These can differ widely on the support they provide. Bria Health Services and similar facilities provide continuous care. Assisted living facilities will provide some help but offer more independence. Deciding on the right level of care is something you have to do carefully.

It’s also a good idea to speak to your older relatives about the future. They may be in great health now, but it’s useful to know their wishes for when they’re not.
